Marisa started her dance journey as a child studying various forms of dance such as jazz, hop hip, and lyrical. When she was 17 her mother who is Colombian took her to her first salsa lesson and she was immediately hooked! Marisa trained for many years under Isidro Corona of Montuno Dance Company and while there won three amateur world championships. She has also trained under former KFSF director Natasha Tia and is currently dancing with salsa legend Karel Flores.
More recently, Marisa has begun studying psychology and Dance/Movement Therapy and is fascinated with the ways that dance can heal and transform us. She aims to help dancers to connect to their movement expression in ways that are intuitive and deeply personal. She believes that through curious exploration of our own bodies, dance can truly come alive in us and help us to connect to our authentic selves.
